In 2011, Russia’s trade with Ghana totaled $180,159,564, up 20.39% ($30,511,861) from 2010.

Russia’s exports to Ghana in 2011 totaled $63,748,965, up 124.12% ($35,305,199) from 2010.

Russia’s imports from Ghana in 2011 were $116,410,599, down 3.95% ($4,793,338) from 2010.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ghana in 2011 was $52,661,634, a 43.23% decrease ($40,098,537) over 2010.

Ghana was Russia’s 101st largest trading partner in 2011 (down from 98th in 2010), accounting for 0.0219% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0239% in 2010).

Ghana was Russia’s 109th largest export market in 2011 (up from 115th in 2010), accounting for 0.0123% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0072% in 2010).

Ghana was Russia’s 79th largest supplier in 2011 (down from 75th in 2010), accounting for 0.0381% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0529% in 2010).

The major share of Russian exports to Ghana in 2011 (and in 2010) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 24.85% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (13.27% in 2010);

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $243,518;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $230,142.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ghana in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $333,765;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $210,962.
