Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh totaled $749,158,103, up 29.61% ($171,128,650) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in 2012 totaled $323,645,306, up 37.64% ($88,511,153) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in 2012 totaled $425,512,797, up 24.09% ($82,617,497) from 2011.

Russia’s trade deficit with Bangladesh in 2012 was $101,867,491, a 5.47% decrease ($5,893,656) over 2011.

Bangladesh was Russia’s 71st largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 78th in 2011), accounting for 0.0890% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0703% in 2011).

Bangladesh was Russia’s 72nd largest export market in 2012 (up from 81st in 2011), accounting for 0.0617% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0455% in 2011).

Bangladesh was Russia’s 58th largest supplier in 2012 (up from 63rd in 2011), accounting for 0.1341% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1121% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh

The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 49.98% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (61.22% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 17.10% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (22.16% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 17.10% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (0.26% in 2011);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.54% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (1.03% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.36% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (10.36% in 2011).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $22,790,614;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $8,306,708;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $1,535,369;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,100,775.

Russia’s Imports from Bangladesh

The major share of Russian imports from Bangladesh in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 94.09% of Russia’s total imports from Bangladesh (92.11% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 5.57% of Russia’s total imports from Bangladesh (7.49% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - an increase of $61,394,064;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted (HS code 61) - an increase of $23,914,495;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $3,608,391;

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - a decrease of $3,006,666;
  • Other made up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags (HS code 63) - a decrease of $1,936,062;
