In 2012, Russia’s trade with Canada totaled $2,809,942,944, up 15.60% ($379,289,283) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Canada in 2012 were $345,242,073, down 42.61% ($256,304,793) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Canada in 2012 totaled $2,464,700,871, up 34.75% ($635,594,076) from 2011.

Russia’s trade deficit with Canada in 2012 was $2,119,458,798, a 72.66% increase ($891,898,869) over 2011.

Canada was Russia’s 41st largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 44th in 2011), accounting for 0.3337% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2955% in 2011).

Canada was Russia’s 71st largest export market in 2012 (down from 68th in 2011), accounting for 0.0658% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1164% in 2011).

Canada was Russia’s 26th largest supplier in 2012 (up from 31st in 2011), accounting for 0.7769% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.5982% in 2011).

The major share of Russian exports to Canada in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 17.13% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (2.76% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 10.51% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (2.71% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.08% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (2.73% in 2011);
