Russia’s Trade with Chile

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Chile totaled $526,831,042, up 15.87% ($72,152,259) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Chile in 2012 were $29,942,887, down 7.90% ($2,568,906) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Chile in 2012 totaled $496,888,155, up 17.70% ($74,721,165) from 2011.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in 2012 was $466,945,268, a 19.84% increase ($77,290,071) over 2011.

Chile was Russia’s 79th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 83rd in 2011), accounting for 0.0626% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0553% in 2011).

Chile was Russia’s 118th largest export market in 2012 (up from 122nd in 2011), accounting for 0.0057% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0063% in 2011).

Chile was Russia’s 54th largest supplier in 2012 (up from 56th in 2011), accounting for 0.1566% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1381% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 83.67% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (45.55% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 8.35% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (9.36% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.54% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.40% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.92% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (33.74% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.67% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (8.56% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Chile in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $11,076,123;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $444,563;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $406,503;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $382,645;
  • Carpets and other textile floor coverings (HS code 57) - an increase of $158,857.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $10,451,311;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $2,620,038;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $936,755;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $543,635;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $247,958;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $247,379.

Russia’s Imports from Chile

The major share of Russian imports from Chile in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.51% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (3.50% in 2011);

  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - an increase of $6,983,270;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $6,118,311;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $5,022,350;
