In 2012, Russia’s trade with Ethiopia totaled $149,837,312, up 28.43% ($33,169,864) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Ethiopia in 2012 totaled $129,464,024, up 30.68% ($30,394,423) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Ethiopia in 2012 totaled $20,373,288, up 15.77% ($2,775,441) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Ethiopia in 2012 was $109,090,736, a 33.90% increase ($27,618,982) over 2011.

Ethiopia was Russia’s 107th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 113th in 2011), accounting for 0.0178% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0142% in 2011).

Ethiopia was Russia’s 94th largest export market in 2012 (up from 99th in 2011), accounting for 0.0247% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0192% in 2011).

Ethiopia was Russia’s 108th largest supplier in 2012 (up from 115th in 2011), accounting for 0.0064% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0058% in 2011).

The major share of Russian exports to Ethiopia in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ethiopia in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $79,546,547;

Russia’s Imports from Ethiopia

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ethiopia in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $1,485,488;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $1,131,836;
  • Footwear, gaiters and the like; parts of such articles (HS code 64) - an increase of $185,617;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $111,097;
