Russia’s Trade with Hong Kong

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Hong Kong totaled $1,499,567,068, up 41.71% ($441,358,231) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Hong Kong in 2012 totaled $1,410,760,136, up 44.60% ($435,158,841) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Hong Kong in 2012 totaled $88,806,932, up 7.50% ($6,199,390) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Hong Kong in 2012 was $1,321,953,204, a 48.04% increase ($428,959,451) over 2011.

Hong Kong was Russia’s 60th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 67th in 2011), accounting for 0.1781% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1287% in 2011).

Hong Kong was Russia’s 48th largest export market in 2012 (up from 57th in 2011), accounting for 0.2689% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1888% in 2011).

Hong Kong was Russia’s 84th largest supplier in 2012 (up from 86th in 2011), accounting for 0.0280% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0270% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Hong Kong

The major share of Russian exports to Hong Kong in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 58.27% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (40.70% in 2011);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 23.13% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (27.30% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.49% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (17.22% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.44% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (5.80% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.76% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (2.45% in 2011);

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $46,672,043;
  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $14,800,891.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Hong Kong in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $22,808,779;
  • Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - a decrease of $8,258,481;
