Russia’s Trade with Hungary

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Hungary was $9,836,151,646, down 11.45% ($1,272,268,071) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Hungary in 2012 were $6,732,820,051, down 13.41% ($1,042,269,365) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Hungary in 2012 were $3,103,331,595, down 6.90% ($229,998,706) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Hungary in 2012 was $3,629,488,456, a 18.29% decrease ($812,270,659) over 2011.

Hungary was Russia’s 23rd largest trading partner in 2012 (down from 18th in 2011), accounting for 1.1682% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.3506% in 2011).

Hungary was Russia’s 20th largest export market in 2012 (down from 17th in 2011), accounting for 1.2831% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.5047% in 2011).

Hungary was Russia’s 23rd largest supplier in 2012 (down from 21st in 2011), accounting for 0.9782% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.0902% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Hungary

The major share of Russian exports to Hungary in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 88.33% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (89.21% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.42% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (7.44% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.18% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (1.86% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.23% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (0.94% in 2011).

Russia’s Imports from Hungary

The major share of Russian imports from Hungary in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 50.74% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (54.75% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 28.62% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (26.38% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.95% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (8.66% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.93% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (1.18% in 2011);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.73% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (1.55% in 2011);

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Hungary in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $258,357,457;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $162,562,140;
