Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Indonesia totaled $2,881,199,494, up 33.00% ($714,932,875) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in 2012 totaled $1,310,079,605, up 106.02% ($674,195,031) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in 2012 totaled $1,571,119,889, up 2.66% ($40,737,844) from 2011.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in 2012 was $261,040,284, a 70.82% decrease ($633,457,187) over 2011.

Indonesia was Russia’s 40th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 45th in 2011), accounting for 0.3422% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2634% in 2011).

Indonesia was Russia’s 50th largest export market in 2012 (up from 66th in 2011), accounting for 0.2497% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1231% in 2011).

Indonesia was Russia’s 33rd largest supplier in 2012 (up from 34th in 2011), accounting for 0.4952% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.5005% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 43.79% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (29.90% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 26.22% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (5.90% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 25.77% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (48.15% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.98% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (6.23% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $362,145,090;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $305,496,129;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $21,390,017;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $20,955,952;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $12,430,426;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $6,283,045;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $4,034,329.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $7,767,639;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $4,306,950.

Russia’s Imports from Indonesia

The major share of Russian imports from Indonesia in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 46.77% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (47.49% in 2011);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 17.54% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (15.11% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.01% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (17.18% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.94% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (13.99% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.97% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (1.81% in 2011);

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $10,633,570;
  • Tin and articles thereof (HS code 80) - an increase of $9,107,626;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted (HS code 61) - an increase of $6,467,538;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $6,237,062;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $5,366,309.
