Russia’s exports to Iraq in 2012 totaled $285,704,985, up 187.00% ($186,156,676) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Iraq in 2012 were $61,909, down 35.98% ($34,792) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Iraq in 2012 was $285,643,076, a 187.22% increase ($186,191,468) over 2011.

Iraq was Russia’s 87th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 117th in 2011), accounting for 0.0339% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0121% in 2011).

Iraq was Russia’s 76th largest export market in 2012 (up from 97th in 2011), accounting for 0.0544% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0193% in 2011).

Iraq was Russia’s 177th largest supplier in 2012 (down from 176th in 2011), accounting for 0.0000% of Russia’s total imports (just as in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Iraq

The major share of Russian exports to Iraq in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 70.47% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (54.80% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 17.13% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (9.33% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.97% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (14.03% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.14% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (9.69% in 2011);

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $8,530,176;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $2,324,724;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $2,072,597.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Iraq in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $9,571,158;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $2,683,147.
