In 2012, Russia’s trade with Kenya was $259,311,944, down 26.88% ($95,316,650) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Kenya in 2012 were $125,962,447, down 44.42% ($100,682,326) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Kenya in 2012 totaled $133,349,497, up 4.19% ($5,365,676) from 2011.

Russia’s trade balance with Kenya went from a surplus of $98,660,952 in 2011, to a deficit of $7,387,050 in 2012.

Kenya was Russia’s 90th largest trading partner in 2012 (down from 88th in 2011), accounting for 0.0308% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0431% in 2011).

Kenya was Russia’s 95th largest export market in 2012 (down from 82nd in 2011), accounting for 0.0240% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0439% in 2011).

Kenya was Russia’s 78th largest supplier in 2012 (just as in 2011), accounting for 0.0420% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0419% in 2011).

The major share of Russian exports to Kenya in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 48.38% of Russia’s total exports to Kenya (77.11% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 34.76% of Russia’s total exports to Kenya (4.79% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.66% of Russia’s total exports to Kenya (3.17% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.60% of Russia’s total exports to Kenya (4.49% in 2011);

  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $1,485,868;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $947,541;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $521,864;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $490,180.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Kenya in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $116,254,443;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $3,247,356;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,578,590;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $1,526,751.
