Russia’s Trade with Lebanon

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Lebanon was $202,199,099, down 50.18% ($203,622,207) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Lebanon in 2012 were $189,525,261, down 50.98% ($197,086,871) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Lebanon in 2012 were $12,673,838, down 34.02% ($6,535,336) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Lebanon in 2012 was $176,851,423, a 51.86% decrease ($190,551,535) over 2011.

Lebanon was Russia’s 97th largest trading partner in 2012 (down from 85th in 2011), accounting for 0.0240% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0493% in 2011).

Lebanon was Russia’s 87th largest export market in 2012 (down from 74th in 2011), accounting for 0.0361% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0748% in 2011).

Lebanon was Russia’s 113th largest supplier in 2012 (down from 112th in 2011), accounting for 0.0040% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0063% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Lebanon

The major share of Russian exports to Lebanon in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 37.45% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (20.52% in 2011);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 29.46% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (53.62% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.63% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (14.84% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 14.11% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (10.06% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.36% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (0.51% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $2,714,963;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $1,933,999;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $938,884.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $144,883,090;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $27,730,926;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $6,579,912;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $6,284,747;

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $3,086,599;

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $1,076,398;

Russia’s Imports from Lebanon

The major share of Russian imports from Lebanon in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 60.42% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (35.05% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 20.11% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (53.66% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.32% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (4.61% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.27% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (2.86% in 2011);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.66% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (0.98% in 2011).
