Russia’s Trade with Malta

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Malta totaled $2,339,662,082, up 46.31% ($740,530,641) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Malta in 2012 totaled $2,305,346,341, up 47.68% ($744,329,294) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Malta in 2012 were $34,315,741, down 9.97% ($3,798,653) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Malta in 2012 was $2,271,030,600, a 49.13% increase ($748,127,947) over 2011.

Malta was Russia’s 44th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 54th in 2011), accounting for 0.2779% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1944% in 2011).

Malta was Russia’s 34th largest export market in 2012 (up from 44th in 2011), accounting for 0.4393% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3021% in 2011).

Malta was Russia’s 101st largest supplier in 2012 (just as in 2011), accounting for 0.0108% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0125% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Malta

The major share of Russian exports to Malta in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 95.29% of Russia’s total exports to Malta (98.12% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.20% of Russia’s total exports to Malta (1.76% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Malta in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $665,075,516;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $46,037,750.

Russia’s Imports from Malta

The major share of Russian imports from Malta in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 65.17% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (50.73% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 30.43% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (44.51% in 2011);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.17% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (0.67% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Malta in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $2,134,514;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $348,716;
