Russia’s Trade with Mexico

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Mexico totaled $1,586,509,711, up 12.15% ($171,829,062) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Mexico in 2012 were $492,467,669, down 14.67% ($84,677,350) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Mexico in 2012 totaled $1,094,042,042, up 30.63% ($256,506,412) from 2011.

Russia’s trade deficit with Mexico in 2012 was $601,574,373, a 131.03% increase ($341,183,762) over 2011.

Mexico was Russia’s 57th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 60th in 2011), accounting for 0.1884% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1720% in 2011).

Mexico was Russia’s 64th largest export market in 2012 (up from 70th in 2011), accounting for 0.0939% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1117% in 2011).

Mexico was Russia’s 42nd largest supplier in 2012 (up from 45th in 2011), accounting for 0.3448% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2739% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Mexico

The major share of Russian exports to Mexico in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 59.90% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (76.67% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 18.80% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (11.79% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.04% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (0.09% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.10% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (1.40% in 2011);

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $4,453,264;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $2,586,924;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,997,666.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mexico in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $147,878,175;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $37,126,746;
