Russia’s exports to Puerto Rico in 2012 were $2,664,672, down 27.16% ($993,380) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Puerto Rico in 2012 totaled $185,739,443, up 26.73% ($39,180,788) from 2011.

Russia’s trade deficit with Puerto Rico in 2012 was $183,074,771, a 28.11% increase ($40,174,168) over 2011.

Puerto Rico was Russia’s 98th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 109th in 2011), accounting for 0.0224% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0183% in 2011).

Puerto Rico was Russia’s 151st largest export market in 2012 (down from 148th in 2011), accounting for 0.0005% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0007% in 2011).

Puerto Rico was Russia’s 70th largest supplier in 2012 (up from 75th in 2011), accounting for 0.0585% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0479% in 2011).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Puerto Rico in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,609,085;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $340,750;

Russia’s Imports from Puerto Rico

The major share of Russian imports from Puerto Rico in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 78.07% of Russia’s total imports from Puerto Rico (70.74% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 19.01% of Russia’s total imports from Puerto Rico (24.72% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.03% of Russia’s total imports from Puerto Rico (4.52% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Puerto Rico in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $41,865,434;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $1,632,552.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Puerto Rico in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $1,843,661;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $940,433;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $733,330.
