Russia’s Trade with Slovenia

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Slovenia totaled $1,563,272,192, up 7.26% ($105,757,712) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Slovenia in 2012 were $313,585,124, down 3.34% ($10,822,355) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Slovenia in 2012 totaled $1,249,687,068, up 10.29% ($116,580,067) from 2011.

Russia’s trade deficit with Slovenia in 2012 was $936,101,944, a 15.75% increase ($127,402,422) over 2011.

Slovenia was Russia’s 59th largest trading partner in 2012 (down from 58th in 2011), accounting for 0.1857% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1772% in 2011).

Slovenia was Russia’s 73rd largest export market in 2012 (up from 77th in 2011), accounting for 0.0598% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0628% in 2011).

Slovenia was Russia’s 40th largest supplier in 2012 (down from 39th in 2011), accounting for 0.3939% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.3706% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Slovenia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovenia in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 70.20% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (73.49% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 20.75% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (20.14% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.36% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (2.16% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.57% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (0.54% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.63% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (2.26% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.11% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (0.98% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $7,436,939;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $2,879,026;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $2,429,638;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $2,351,208;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,711,098;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $1,510,771;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $1,165,968.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $18,292,239;
  • Nickel and articles thereof (HS code 75) - a decrease of $7,457,965;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,405,678;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,298,115;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $1,066,243;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $1,062,836.

Russia’s Imports from Slovenia

The major share of Russian imports from Slovenia in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 55.40% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (55.34% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 30.82% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (31.48% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.99% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (4.70% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.94% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (3.30% in 2011);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.85% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (1.93% in 2011);

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $8,800,508;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $4,578,527.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Slovenia in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:
