Russia’s Trade with Ukraine

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Ukraine was $45,161,616,450, down 10.77% ($5,453,373,315) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Ukraine in 2012 were $27,215,057,577, down 10.75% ($3,276,665,709) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Ukraine in 2012 were $17,946,558,873, down 10.82% ($2,176,707,606) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Ukraine in 2012 was $9,268,498,704, a 10.61% decrease ($1,099,958,103) over 2011.

Ukraine was Russia’s 5th largest trading partner in 2012 (down from 4th in 2011), accounting for 5.3636% of Russia’s total trade (down from 6.1540% in 2011).

Ukraine was Russia’s 6th largest export market in 2012 (down from 5th in 2011), accounting for 5.1864% of Russia’s total exports (down from 5.9010% in 2011).

Ukraine was Russia’s 3rd largest supplier in 2012 (just as in 2011), accounting for 5.6567% of Russia’s total imports (down from 6.5814% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Ukraine

The major share of Russian exports to Ukraine in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 65.16% of Russia’s total exports to Ukraine (67.85% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.60% of Russia’s total exports to Ukraine (10.79% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 10.85% of Russia’s total exports to Ukraine (9.97% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.22% of Russia’s total exports to Ukraine (6.10% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.67% of Russia’s total exports to Ukraine (2.31% in 2011);
