Russia’s Trade with Venezuela

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Venezuela totaled $1,944,733,613, up 12.11% ($210,007,573) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Venezuela in 2012 totaled $1,943,907,347, up 12.11% ($210,024,059) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Venezuela in 2012 were $826,266, down 1.96% ($16,486) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Venezuela in 2012 was $1,943,081,081, a 12.12% increase ($210,040,545) over 2011.

Venezuela was Russia’s 49th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 52nd in 2011), accounting for 0.2310% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2109% in 2011).

Venezuela was Russia’s 37th largest export market in 2012 (up from 43rd in 2011), accounting for 0.3705% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3356% in 2011).

Venezuela was Russia’s 150th largest supplier in 2012 (just as in 2011), accounting for 0.0003% of Russia’s total imports (just as in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Venezuela

The major share of Russian exports to Venezuela in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 50.31% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (52.55% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.58% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (6.65% in 2011);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.81% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (0.41% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.09% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (0.53% in 2011).

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $24,245,012;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $18,952,130;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $8,712,874.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Venezuela in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $20,042,273;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $12,993,850;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $11,830,451.

Russia’s Imports from Venezuela

The major share of Russian imports from Venezuela in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 77.80% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (11.85% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 14.55% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (4.91% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.23% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (22.96% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.42% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (18.52% in 2011).
