Russia’s Trade with Argentina

In 2013, Russia’s trade with Argentina was $1,500,233,274, down 4.51% ($70,777,730) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to Argentina in 2013 totaled $400,128,806, up 30.33% ($93,114,827) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from Argentina in 2013 were $1,100,104,468, down 12.97% ($163,892,557) from 2012.

Russia’s trade deficit with Argentina in 2013 was $699,975,662, a 26.86% decrease ($257,007,384) over 2012.

Argentina was Russia’s 62nd largest trading partner in 2013 (down from 58th in 2012), accounting for 0.1781% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1866% in 2012).

Argentina was Russia’s 72nd largest export market in 2013 (up from 74th in 2012), accounting for 0.0759% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0585% in 2012).

Argentina was Russia’s 43rd largest supplier in 2013 (down from 38th in 2012), accounting for 0.3493% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3984% in 2012).

Russia’s Exports to Argentina

The major share of Russian exports to Argentina in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 65.14% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (61.79% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 23.33% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (32.79% in 2012);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.10% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (0.41% in 2012);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.20% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (3.02% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.80% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (1.95% in 2012).

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $1,726,784;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $1,590,276.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Argentina in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $8,361,192;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $2,774,399.

Russia’s Imports from Argentina

The major share of Russian imports from Argentina in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 81.91% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (75.34% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.29% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (14.44% in 2012);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.57% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (8.42% in 2012);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.93% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (1.30% in 2012).
