Russia’s Trade with Chile

In 2013, Russia’s trade with Chile totaled $743,732,006, up 41.17% ($216,900,964) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to Chile in 2013 totaled $48,804,605, up 62.99% ($18,861,718) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from Chile in 2013 totaled $694,927,401, up 39.86% ($198,039,246) from 2012.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in 2013 was $646,122,796, a 38.37% increase ($179,177,528) over 2012.

Chile was Russia’s 76th largest trading partner in 2013 (up from 79th in 2012), accounting for 0.0883% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0626% in 2012).

Chile was Russia’s 115th largest export market in 2013 (up from 118th in 2012), accounting for 0.0093% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0057% in 2012).

Chile was Russia’s 51st largest supplier in 2013 (up from 54th in 2012), accounting for 0.2206% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1566% in 2012).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 74.25% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (83.67% in 2012);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.82% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (0.02% in 2012);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.19% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.92% in 2012);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.74% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (3.54% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.29% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (0.67% in 2012);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.06% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (8.35% in 2012).

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $6,736,553;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,121,985;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $820,428;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $390,988;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $240,561;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $227,721;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $183,302;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $181,531;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $149,279.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - a decrease of $1,890,444;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $430,268;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $216,002;
  • Carpets and other textile floor coverings (HS code 57) - a decrease of $158,857.

Russia’s Imports from Chile

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.42% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (4.51% in 2012);
