Russia’s Trade with Norway

In 2013, Russia’s trade with Norway was $2,561,362,323, down 5.17% ($139,528,496) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to Norway in 2013 were $807,792,084, down 11.26% ($102,532,959) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from Norway in 2013 were $1,753,570,239, down 2.07% ($36,995,537) from 2012.

Russia’s trade deficit with Norway in 2013 was $945,778,155, a 7.45% increase ($65,537,422) over 2012.

Norway was Russia’s 44th largest trading partner in 2013 (down from 43rd in 2012), accounting for 0.3041% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3208% in 2012).

Norway was Russia’s 60th largest export market in 2013 (down from 58th in 2012), accounting for 0.1532% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1735% in 2012).

Norway was Russia’s 32nd largest supplier in 2013 (down from 31st in 2012), accounting for 0.5567% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.5644% in 2012).

Russia’s Exports to Norway

The major share of Russian exports to Norway in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 51.81% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (62.39% in 2012);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 17.99% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (9.49% in 2012);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 16.90% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (15.58% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.06% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (8.45% in 2012);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.68% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (1.41% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.02% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (1.45% in 2012).

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $10,605,081;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $10,252,745;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $7,955,566;
  • Other base metals; cermets; articles thereof (HS code 81) - an increase of $5,737,387;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $4,309,370;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $4,097,334;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $3,290,354.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Norway in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $154,958,488;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $19,823,885;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $13,342,175;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $9,135,401;
