Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In 2013, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $547,074,811, up 0.91% ($4,930,392) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in 2013 were $197,068,784, down 6.14% ($12,882,382) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in 2013 totaled $350,006,027, up 5.36% ($17,812,774) from 2012.

Russia’s trade deficit with Pakistan in 2013 was $152,937,243, a 25.11% increase ($30,695,156) over 2012.

Pakistan was Russia’s 81st largest trading partner in 2013 (down from 78th in 2012), accounting for 0.0650% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0644% in 2012).

Pakistan was Russia’s 88th largest export market in 2013 (down from 83rd in 2012), accounting for 0.0374% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0400% in 2012).

Pakistan was Russia’s 66th largest supplier in 2013 (down from 64th in 2012), accounting for 0.1111% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1047% in 2012).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 33.95% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (59.32% in 2012);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 22.21% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (3.26% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 12.14% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (6.40% in 2012);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 11.54% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (0.18% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.01% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (27.47% in 2012);

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $7,853,297;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $4,863,933;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $3,384,385;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $1,828,392;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $1,810,449.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $58,460,562;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $40,760,268;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $1,806,450.
