Russia’s Trade with Tanzania

In 2013, Russia’s trade with Tanzania totaled $168,263,543, up 49.09% ($55,403,222) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to Tanzania in 2013 totaled $100,049,474, up 64.83% ($39,349,902) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from Tanzania in 2013 totaled $68,214,069, up 30.78% ($16,053,320) from 2012.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tanzania in 2013 was $31,835,405, a 272.83% increase ($23,296,582) over 2012.

Tanzania was Russia’s 102nd largest trading partner in 2013 (up from 111th in 2012), accounting for 0.0200% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0134% in 2012).

Tanzania was Russia’s 97th largest export market in 2013 (up from 109th in 2012), accounting for 0.0190% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0116% in 2012).

Tanzania was Russia’s 88th largest supplier in 2013 (up from 94th in 2012), accounting for 0.0217% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0164% in 2012).

Russia’s Exports to Tanzania

The major share of Russian exports to Tanzania in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 64.63% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (65.74% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 30.52% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (27.19% in 2012);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.68% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (0.18% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.55% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (2.23% in 2012);

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $1,652,991;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $916,607;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $609,180.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tanzania in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $2,010,491.
