Russia’s Trade with the US

In 2013, Russia’s trade with the US was $27,637,094,100, down 2.11% ($596,361,449) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to the US in 2013 were $11,135,108,689, down 13.46% ($1,731,973,244) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from the US in 2013 totaled $16,501,985,411, up 7.39% ($1,135,611,795) from 2012.

Russia’s trade deficit with the US in 2013 was $5,366,876,722, a 114.74% increase ($2,867,585,039) over 2012.

The US was Russia’s 10th largest trading partner in 2013 (down from 9th in 2012), accounting for 3.2814% of Russia’s total trade (down from 3.3531% in 2012).

The US was Russia’s 14th largest export market in 2013 (down from 13th in 2012), accounting for 2.1119% of Russia’s total exports (down from 2.4521% in 2012).

The US was Russia’s 3rd largest supplier in 2013 (up from 5th in 2012), accounting for 5.2393% of Russia’s total imports (up from 4.8434% in 2012).

Russia’s Exports to the US

The major share of Russian exports to the US in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 36.91% of Russia’s total exports to the US (47.21% in 2012);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 26.75% of Russia’s total exports to the US (22.54% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 22.39% of Russia’s total exports to the US (18.06% in 2012);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 5.61% of Russia’s total exports to the US (5.92% in 2012);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.26% of Russia’s total exports to the US (2.67% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.49% of Russia’s total exports to the US (0.94% in 2012).
