Russia’s Trade with Chile

In 2014, Russia’s trade with Chile totaled $885,933,612, up 19.12% ($142,201,606) from 2013.

Russia’s exports to Chile in 2014 totaled $64,454,284, up 32.07% ($15,649,679) from 2013.

Russia’s imports from Chile in 2014 totaled $821,479,328, up 18.21% ($126,551,927) from 2013.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in 2014 was $757,025,044, a 17.16% increase ($110,902,248) over 2013.

Chile was Russia’s 71st largest trading partner in 2014 (up from 76th in 2013), accounting for 0.1132% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0883% in 2013).

Chile was Russia’s 103rd largest export market in 2014 (up from 115th in 2013), accounting for 0.0130% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0093% in 2013).

Chile was Russia’s 45th largest supplier in 2014 (up from 51st in 2013), accounting for 0.2872% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2206% in 2013).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in 2014 (and in 2013) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 49.10% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (13.82% in 2013);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 38.91% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (74.25% in 2013);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.58% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.29% in 2013);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.80% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.74% in 2013);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.34% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.06% in 2013);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.10% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (4.19% in 2013).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Chile in 2014 over 2013 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $24,899,062;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $3,395,635;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $373,958;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $278,788.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in 2014 over 2013 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $6,890,369;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $4,084,404;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,164,166;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $308,142;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $240,561.

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 92.22% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (95.86% in 2013);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.85% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (0.43% in 2013);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.77% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (2.42% in 2013).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Chile in 2014 over 2013 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $61,528,096;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $6,291,785;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $6,266,189;
