Russia’s Trade with Hong Kong

In 2014, Russia’s trade with Hong Kong was $1,454,556,144, down 54.52% ($1,743,825,189) from 2013.

Russia’s exports to Hong Kong in 2014 were $1,249,930,934, down 58.70% ($1,776,266,015) from 2013.

Russia’s imports from Hong Kong in 2014 totaled $204,625,210, up 18.84% ($32,440,826) from 2013.

Russia’s trade surplus with Hong Kong in 2014 was $1,045,305,724, a 63.37% decrease ($1,808,706,841) over 2013.

Hong Kong was Russia’s 58th largest trading partner in 2014 (down from 39th in 2013), accounting for 0.1858% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3798% in 2013).

Hong Kong was Russia’s 50th largest export market in 2014 (down from 30th in 2013), accounting for 0.2515% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.5739% in 2013).

Hong Kong was Russia’s 73rd largest supplier in 2014 (up from 74th in 2013), accounting for 0.0716% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0547% in 2013).

Russia’s Exports to Hong Kong

The major share of Russian exports to Hong Kong in 2014 (and in 2013) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 51.94% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (78.86% in 2013);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 20.34% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (9.88% in 2013);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.67% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (5.69% in 2013);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.23% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (2.86% in 2013);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.35% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (1.07% in 2013).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Hong Kong in 2014 over 2013 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - an increase of $7,606,130;

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $5,088,354.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Hong Kong in 2014 over 2013 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $1,737,240,212;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $53,095,615;
  • Furskins and artificial fur; manufactures thereof (HS code 43) - a decrease of $11,309,314;

Russia’s Imports from Hong Kong

The major share of Russian imports from Hong Kong in 2014 (and in 2013) was accounted for the following product types:
