Russia’s Trade with the US

In 2014, Russia’s trade with the US totaled $29,175,332,244, up 5.57% ($1,538,238,144) from 2013.

Russia’s exports to the US in 2014 were $10,678,615,357, down 4.10% ($456,493,332) from 2013.

Russia’s imports from the US in 2014 totaled $18,496,716,887, up 12.09% ($1,994,731,476) from 2013.

Russia’s trade deficit with the US in 2014 was $7,818,101,530, a 45.67% increase ($2,451,224,808) over 2013.

The US was Russia’s 8th largest trading partner in 2014 (up from 10th in 2013), accounting for 3.7264% of Russia’s total trade (up from 3.2814% in 2013).

The US was Russia’s 15th largest export market in 2014 (down from 14th in 2013), accounting for 2.1489% of Russia’s total exports (up from 2.1119% in 2013).

The US was Russia’s 3rd largest supplier in 2014 (just as in 2013), accounting for 6.4678% of Russia’s total imports (up from 5.2393% in 2013).

Russia’s Exports to the US

The major share of Russian exports to the US in 2014 (and in 2013) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 35.94% of Russia’s total exports to the US (36.91% in 2013);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 31.71% of Russia’s total exports to the US (26.75% in 2013);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 18.75% of Russia’s total exports to the US (22.39% in 2013);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 5.03% of Russia’s total exports to the US (5.61% in 2013);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.49% of Russia’s total exports to the US (3.26% in 2013);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.56% of Russia’s total exports to the US (1.49% in 2013).
