In 2015, Russia’s trade with Japan was $21,309,941,655, down 30.81% ($9,487,218,970) from 2014.

Russia’s exports to Japan in 2015 were $14,497,265,906, down 27.06% ($5,377,912,145) from 2014.

Russia’s imports from Japan in 2015 were $6,812,675,749, down 37.62% ($4,109,306,825) from 2014.

Russia’s trade surplus with Japan in 2015 was $7,684,590,157, a 14.17% decrease ($1,268,605,320) over 2014.

Japan was Russia’s 7th largest trading partner in 2015 (just as in 2014), accounting for 4.0492% of Russia’s total trade (up from 3.9336% in 2014).

Japan was Russia’s 7th largest export market in 2015 (down from 6th in 2014), accounting for 4.2193% of Russia’s total exports (up from 3.9995% in 2014).

Japan was Russia’s 6th largest supplier in 2015 (just as in 2014), accounting for 3.7293% of Russia’s total imports (down from 3.8191% in 2014).

Russia’s Exports to Japan

The major share of Russian exports to Japan in 2015 (and in 2014) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 82.91% of Russia’s total exports to Japan (87.28% in 2014);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.76% of Russia’s total exports to Japan (5.65% in 2014);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.80% of Russia’s total exports to Japan (0.20% in 2014);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.51% of Russia’s total exports to Japan (2.30% in 2014);
