Russia’s Trade with Norway

In 2015, Russia’s trade with Norway was $1,378,669,341, down 33.92% ($707,668,167) from 2014.

Russia’s exports to Norway in 2015 were $751,858,121, down 19.64% ($183,788,663) from 2014.

Russia’s imports from Norway in 2015 were $626,811,220, down 45.53% ($523,879,504) from 2014.

Russia’s trade balance with Norway went from a deficit of $215,043,940 in 2014, to a surplus of $125,046,901 in 2015.

Norway was Russia’s 51st largest trading partner in 2015 (down from 47th in 2014), accounting for 0.2620% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2665% in 2014).

Norway was Russia’s 57th largest export market in 2015 (just as in 2014), accounting for 0.2188% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1883% in 2014).

Norway was Russia’s 42nd largest supplier in 2015 (down from 39th in 2014), accounting for 0.3431% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4024% in 2014).

Russia’s Exports to Norway

The major share of Russian exports to Norway in 2015 (and in 2014) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 58.10% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (47.51% in 2014);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 24.40% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (21.59% in 2014);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.36% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (16.25% in 2014);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.67% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (5.82% in 2014);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.18% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (5.16% in 2014);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.95% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (1.92% in 2014).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Norway in 2015 over 2014 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $20,146,169;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $10,232,178;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $5,633,017.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Norway in 2015 over 2014 were recorded for the following product groups:
