In 2015, Russia’s trade with Syria was $312,510,129, down 47.41% ($281,782,816) from 2014.

Russia’s exports to Syria in 2015 were $307,274,655, down 47.67% ($279,884,763) from 2014.

Russia’s imports from Syria in 2015 were $5,235,474, down 26.61% ($1,898,053) from 2014.

Russia’s trade surplus with Syria in 2015 was $302,039,181, a 47.93% decrease ($277,986,710) over 2014.

Syria was Russia’s 85th largest trading partner in 2015 (down from 81st in 2014), accounting for 0.0594% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0759% in 2014).

Syria was Russia’s 71st largest export market in 2015 (down from 68th in 2014), accounting for 0.0894% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1182% in 2014).

The major share of Russian exports to Syria in 2015 (and in 2014) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 13.73% of Russia’s total exports to Syria (5.20% in 2014);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 10.85% of Russia’s total exports to Syria (5.38% in 2014);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.32% of Russia’s total exports to Syria (7.18% in 2014);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.85% of Russia’s total exports to Syria (1.02% in 2014);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.54% of Russia’s total exports to Syria (5.49% in 2014).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Syria in 2015 over 2014 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $4,731,560;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $4,322,278;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $2,789,711;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $988,109.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Syria in 2015 over 2014 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $6,152,979;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $4,516,606;
