Russia’s Trade with Zimbabwe

In 2015, Russia’s trade with Zimbabwe totaled $45,382,491, up 7.70% ($3,245,495) from 2014.

Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in 2015 were $3,088,017, down 66.17% ($6,040,577) from 2014.

Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in 2015 totaled $42,294,474, up 28.13% ($9,286,072) from 2014.

Russia’s trade deficit with Zimbabwe in 2015 was $39,206,457, a 64.18% increase ($15,326,649) over 2014.

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 132nd largest trading partner in 2015 (up from 133rd in 2014), accounting for 0.0086% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0054% in 2014).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 159th largest export market in 2015 (down from 140th in 2014), accounting for 0.0009% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0018% in 2014).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 98th largest supplier in 2015 (up from 100th in 2014), accounting for 0.0232% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0115% in 2014).

Russia’s Exports to Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian exports to Zimbabwe in 2015 (and in 2014) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 64.14% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (19.84% in 2014);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 27.28% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (78.74% in 2014);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.41% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (1.08% in 2014).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in 2015 over 2014 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $331,600;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $73,478;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $42,264;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $30,091;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $14,898.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in 2015 over 2014 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $6,345,002;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $161,685;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $31,251.

Russia’s Imports from Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian imports from Zimbabwe in 2015 (and in 2014) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.69% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (98.86% in 2014);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.15% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (1.13% in 2014).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in 2015 over 2014 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $9,800,992;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $482,866.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in 2015 over 2014 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $595,929;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $309,084;
  • Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage (HS code 06) - a decrease of $144,677.
