Russia's Trade with Argentina

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Argentina was $156,023,900, down 8.08% ($13,721,793) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Argentina in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $21,366,728, up 69.61% ($8,769,531) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Argentina in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $134,657,172, down 14.31% ($22,491,324) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade deficit with Argentina in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $113,290,444, a 21.63% decrease ($31,260,855) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Argentina was Russia's 65th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 68th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1603% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.1283% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Argentina was Russia's 95th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 106th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0348% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.0140% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Argentina was Russia's 42nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (down from 41st in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3747% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.3739% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Argentina

The major share of Russian exports to Argentina in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 64.81% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (30.71% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 13.91% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (18.72% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.99% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (8.76% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.73% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (39.02% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.56% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (2.64% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Argentina in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $5,667,296;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $4,311,561;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $791,046;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $778,482;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $647,530;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $550,308.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Argentina in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $3,813,729;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $131,054;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $76,680;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $74,359.

Russia's Imports from Argentina

The major share of Russian imports from Argentina in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 93.65% of Russia's total imports from Argentina (84.35% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.63% of Russia's total imports from Argentina (5.56% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.43% of Russia's total imports from Argentina (3.10% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.27% of Russia's total imports from Argentina (6.65% in the 1st quarter of 2015).
