Russia's Trade with Chile

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Chile totaled $138,397,118, up 10.14% ($12,737,848) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $10,982,234, down 16.43% ($2,158,764) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Chile in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $127,414,884, up 13.24% ($14,896,612) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade deficit with Chile in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $116,432,650, a 17.16% increase ($17,055,376) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Chile was Russia's 68th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 76th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1422% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.0950% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Chile was Russia's 105th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (down from 104th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0179% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.0146% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Chile was Russia's 47th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 50th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3545% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.2677% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 38.92% of Russia's total exports to Chile (49.67% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 33.66% of Russia's total exports to Chile (1.37% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 11.67% of Russia's total exports to Chile (10.51% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.55% of Russia's total exports to Chile (35.10% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.99% of Russia's total exports to Chile (1.53% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 2.68% of Russia's total exports to Chile (0.37% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.50% of Russia's total exports to Chile (1.42% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $2,006,947;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,587,127;
  • Man-made filaments (HS code 54) - an increase of $245,402;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $221,489;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $105,989;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $58,095;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $43,032;
  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - an increase of $42,693.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $3,747,565;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,217,421;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $210,959;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $141,828;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $85,132;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $72,457;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $35,443.

Russia's Imports from Chile

The major share of Russian imports from Chile in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 93.42% of Russia's total imports from Chile (83.83% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.64% of Russia's total imports from Chile (4.14% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.79% of Russia's total imports from Chile (9.41% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.06% of Russia's total imports from Chile (1.01% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's imports from Chile in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

The largest declines in Russia's imports from Chile in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Dairy produce; birds eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 04) - a decrease of $6,303,239;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $1,685,789;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $1,045,732;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $756,504;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $654,684;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $438,874.
