Russia's Trade with Ecuador

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Ecuador totaled $374,350,039, up 9.31% ($31,888,800) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $34,536,762, down 37.66% ($20,863,348) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $339,813,277, up 18.38% ($52,752,148) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade deficit with Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $305,276,515, a 31.78% increase ($73,615,496) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Ecuador was Russia's 45th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 49th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3847% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.2589% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Ecuador was Russia's 86th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (down from 76th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0563% of Russia's total exports (down from 0.0614% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Ecuador was Russia's 27th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 32nd in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.9456% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.6830% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 33.51% of Russia's total exports to Ecuador (2.06% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 31.79% of Russia's total exports to Ecuador (58.80% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 16.83% of Russia's total exports to Ecuador (24.93% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 15.97% of Russia's total exports to Ecuador (9.00% in the 1st quarter of 2015);

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $1,273,335;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,227,794;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,086,566;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $765,688;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $257,836;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $164,349;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $143,298.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $22,525,875;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $7,971,309;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,688,318;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $607,128;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $148,143.

The largest gains in Russia's imports from Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $57,503,879;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $3,023,225.
