Russia's Trade with Mexico

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Mexico was $373,142,257, down 6.62% ($26,454,849) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $216,765,230, down 7.08% ($16,507,377) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $156,377,027, down 5.98% ($9,947,472) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade surplus with Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $60,388,203, a 9.80% decrease ($6,559,905) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Mexico was Russia's 46th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 48th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.38% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.30% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Mexico was Russia's 47th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 48th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.35% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.26% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Mexico was Russia's 39th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (down from 37th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.44% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.39% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Mexico

The major share of Russian exports to Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 71.19% of Russia's total exports to Mexico (84.06% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.52% of Russia's total exports to Mexico (8.30% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 11.16% of Russia's total exports to Mexico (0.22% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.33% of Russia's total exports to Mexico (3.00% in the 1st quarter of 2015);

  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - an increase of $685,716.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $47,832,473;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $3,937,096;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $2,235,743;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,413,350;

Russia's Imports from Mexico

The major share of Russian imports from Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.32% of Russia's total imports from Mexico (10.41% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 7.44% of Russia's total imports from Mexico (10.13% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
