Russia's Trade with Morocco

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Morocco totaled $344,234,727, up 19.78% ($56,855,795) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Morocco in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $127,477,213, up 3.35% ($4,132,133) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Morocco in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $216,757,514, up 32.14% ($52,723,662) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade deficit with Morocco in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $89,280,301, a 119.42% increase ($48,591,529) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Morocco was Russia's 48th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 55th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3538% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.2172% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Morocco was Russia's 55th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 64th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2077% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.1366% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Morocco was Russia's 33th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 38th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.6031% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.3903% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Morocco

The major share of Russian exports to Morocco in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 52.91% of Russia's total exports to Morocco (71.55% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 25.78% of Russia's total exports to Morocco (12.17% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.07% of Russia's total exports to Morocco (0.73% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.33% of Russia's total exports to Morocco (14.29% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Morocco in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $8,573,996;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $4,219,995;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $988,351;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $679,874;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $413,293.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Morocco in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $18,510,075;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $5,789,779;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $2,285,511;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $902,980;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $508,775.

Russia's Imports from Morocco

The major share of Russian imports from Morocco in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 79.59% of Russia's total imports from Morocco (76.81% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 16.37% of Russia's total imports from Morocco (17.25% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.15% of Russia's total imports from Morocco (0.59% in the 1st quarter of 2015).
