Russia's Trade with Tanzania

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Tanzania totaled $40,786,678, up 6.04% ($2,323,806) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Tanzania in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $32,964,335, up 6.23% ($1,932,530) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Tanzania in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $7,822,343, up 5.27% ($391,276) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade surplus with Tanzania in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $25,141,992, a 6.53% increase ($1,541,254) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Tanzania was Russia's 100th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (down from 99th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0419% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.0291% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Tanzania was Russia's 89th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 91st in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0537% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.0344% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Tanzania was Russia's 94th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 98th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0218% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.0177% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Tanzania

The major share of Russian exports to Tanzania in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 76.31% of Russia's total exports to Tanzania (81.16% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.85% of Russia's total exports to Tanzania (5.69% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.84% of Russia's total exports to Tanzania (8.58% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.54% of Russia's total exports to Tanzania (1.91% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.33% of Russia's total exports to Tanzania (2.45% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Tanzania in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $3,048,372;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $678,866;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $508,408.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Tanzania in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,237,425;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $592,472;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $368,723;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $113,097.

The major share of Russian imports from Tanzania in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.73% of Russia's total imports from Tanzania (100.00% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's imports from Tanzania in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $1,349,388.

The largest declines in Russia's imports from Tanzania in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
