Russia's Trade with Venezuela

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Venezuela was $98,239,850, down 19.06% ($23,126,374) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Venezuela in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $98,093,978, down 19.15% ($23,236,245) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Venezuela in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $145,872, up 305.19% ($109,871) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade surplus with Venezuela in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $97,948,106, a 19.25% decrease ($23,346,116) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Venezuela was Russia's 76th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 80th the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1010% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.0917% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Venezuela was Russia's 63rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 65th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1598% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.1344% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Venezuela was Russia's 139th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 150th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0004% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.0001% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Venezuela

The major share of Russian exports to Venezuela in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 95.10% of Russia's total exports to Venezuela (44.00% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.38% of Russia's total exports to Venezuela (0.32% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Venezuela in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $64,924,189;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $14,129,037;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $1,550,531;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,217,340;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $694,323;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $541,858.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Venezuela in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $41,402,216.

Russia's Imports from Venezuela

The major share of Russian imports from Venezuela in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 97.21% of Russia's total imports from Venezuela (91.53% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.78% of Russia's total imports from Venezuela (6.12% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 0.00% of Russia's total imports from Venezuela (2.35% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's imports from Venezuela in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $68,913;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $24,300;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $15,638;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - an increase of $3,260.

The largest declines in Russia's imports from Venezuela in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $903;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - a decrease of $525.
