Russia's Trade with Greece

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Greece was $570,628,318, down 14.82% ($99,298,336) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $532,422,119, down 13.78% ($85,092,725) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Greece in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $38,206,199, down 27.10% ($14,205,611) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade surplus with Greece in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $494,215,920, a 12.54% decrease ($70,887,114) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Greece was Russia's 34th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.5864% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.5064% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Greece was Russia's 25th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 33nd in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.8676% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.6841% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Greece was Russia's 65th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (down from 60th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1063% of Russia's total imports (down from 0.1247% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Greece

The major share of Russian exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 69.06% of Russia's total exports to Greece (86.20% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 23.10% of Russia's total exports to Greece (8.14% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.62% of Russia's total exports to Greece (1.90% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.51% of Russia's total exports to Greece (2.10% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.01% of Russia's total exports to Greece (0.89% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $70,485,919;
  • Zinc and articles thereof (HS code 79) - an increase of $15,302,456;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $13,767,584.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $164,638,584;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $7,692,351;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $5,432,298;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,950,899.

Russia's Imports from Greece

The major share of Russian imports from Greece in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 30.58% of Russia's total imports from Greece (25.78% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 23.66% of Russia's total imports from Greece (16.52% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.19% of Russia's total imports from Greece (37.53% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.64% of Russia's total imports from Greece (13.58% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 5.85% of Russia's total imports from Greece (3.31% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
