Russia's Trade with Qatar

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Qatar totaled $12,504,015, up 320.90% ($9,533,228) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Qatar in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $5,510,106, up 343.74% ($4,268,359) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Qatar in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $6,993,909, up 304.50% ($5,264,869) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade deficit with Qatar in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $1,483,803, a 204.50% increase ($996,510) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Qatar was Russia's 118th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 140th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0129% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.0022% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Qatar was Russia's 124th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 135th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0090% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.0014% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Qatar was Russia's 96th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 116th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0195% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.0041% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Qatar

The major share of Russian exports to Qatar in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 70.48% of Russia's total exports to Qatar (2.74% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.15% of Russia's total exports to Qatar (0.00% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.02% of Russia's total exports to Qatar (44.05% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.56% of Russia's total exports to Qatar (41.61% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.15% of Russia's total exports to Qatar (10.24% in the 1st quarter of 2015);

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $3,817,132;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $826,945;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $51,460;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $47,200;
  • Ceramic products (HS code 69) - an increase of $34,103;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $25,695.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Qatar in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $273,190;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $220,538;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $49,717.
