Russia's Trade with Sri Lanka

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Sri Lanka was $87,695,817, down 28.14% ($34,337,122) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Sri Lanka in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $27,486,373, down 35.19% ($14,921,209) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Sri Lanka in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $60,209,444, down 24.38% ($19,415,913) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade deficit with Sri Lanka in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $32,723,071, a 12.08% decrease ($4,494,704) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Sri Lanka was Russia's 78th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 79th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0901% of Russia's total trade (down from 0.0922% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Sri Lanka was Russia's 92nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (down from 82nd in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0448% of Russia's total exports (down from 0.0470% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Sri Lanka was Russia's 57th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1675% of Russia's total imports (down from 0.1894% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Sri Lanka

The major share of Russian exports to Sri Lanka in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 46.59% of Russia's total exports to Sri Lanka (77.90% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 40.60% of Russia's total exports to Sri Lanka (1.96% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 9.84% of Russia's total exports to Sri Lanka (5.26% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.73% of Russia's total exports to Sri Lanka (14.49% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $976,234;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $332,682;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $210,000;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $84,219;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $83,231.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Sri Lanka in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $22,379,186;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $5,290,660;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $387,308;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $107,971.

Russia's Imports from Sri Lanka
