Russia's Trade with Argentina

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Argentina totaled $265,775,536, up 8.20% ($20,134,208) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $43,233,373, up 26.18% ($8,969,785) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $222,542,163, up 5.28% ($11,164,423) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade deficit with Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $179,308,790, a 1.24% increase ($2,194,638) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Argentina was Russia's 52nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 60th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2442% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.1802% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Argentina was Russia's 81st largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 92nd in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0651% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.0374% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Argentina was Russia's 36th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 38th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.5250% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.4719% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Argentina

The major share of Russian exports to Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 53.04% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (35.69% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 35.24% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (45.84% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.87% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (6.09% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.68% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (9.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.85% of Russia's total exports to Argentina (3.31% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $5,906,592;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $4,131,525;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $1,074,429;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $768,694;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $194,222;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $132,224.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,179,088;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $665,124;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $558,662;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $357,625;
  • Explosives; pyrotechnic products; matches; pyrophoric alloys; certain combustible preparations (HS code 36) - a decrease of $271,900;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $194,102;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $176,935.

Russia's Imports from Argentina

The major share of Russian imports from Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 84.67% of Russia's total imports from Argentina (93.77% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.00% of Russia's total imports from Argentina (3.26% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.91% of Russia's total imports from Argentina (1.74% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.14% of Russia's total imports from Argentina (1.02% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).
