Russia’s Trade with Argentina

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Argentina was $229,055,123, down 24.40% ($73,925,163) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $60,426,909, up 117.48% ($32,641,720) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $168,628,214, down 38.72% ($106,566,883) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $108,201,305, a 56.27% decrease ($139,208,603) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Argentina was Russia’s 64th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 52nd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1879% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2387% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Argentina was Russia’s 77th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 97th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0840% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0349% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Argentina was Russia’s 42nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 33rd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3374% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.5807% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Argentina

The major share of Russian exports to Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 76.63% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (18.48% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.35% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (48.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.95% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (12.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.91% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (12.76% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.94% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (7.50% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $42,942,267;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $3,979,924.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $7,277,655;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,835,727;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $1,773,606;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $1,543,200;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,511,885;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $660,639;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $181,817.

Russia’s Imports from Argentina

The major share of Russian imports from Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 92.79% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (89.52% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.06% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (7.20% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.99% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (2.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).
