Russia's Trade with Costa Rica

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Costa Rica was $20,257,428, down 36.02% ($11,406,841) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $4,069,732, down 58.48% ($5,731,181) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $16,187,696, down 25.96% ($5,675,660) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade deficit with Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $12,117,964, a 0.46% increase ($55,521) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Costa Rica was Russia's 108th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0186% of Russia's total trade (down from 0.0232% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Costa Rica was Russia's 122nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 114th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0061% of Russia's total exports (down from 0.0107% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Costa Rica was Russia's 85th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 82nd in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0382% of Russia's total imports (down from 0.0488% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Costa Rica

The major share of Russian exports to Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 91.41% of Russia's total exports to Costa Rica (70.73% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.30% of Russia's total exports to Costa Rica (28.55% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $92,200;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $29,044;
  • Other made up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags (HS code 63) - an increase of $19,388;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $17,417.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $3,233,570;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $2,500,934;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $51,270;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $47,960;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $37,388;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $27,092.

Russia's Imports from Costa Rica

The major share of Russian imports from Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 63.28% of Russia's total imports from Costa Rica (42.76% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 32.54% of Russia's total imports from Costa Rica (54.63% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.03% of Russia's total imports from Costa Rica (1.08% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
