Russia's Trade with Egypt

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Egypt was $718,056,343, down 24.28% ($230,213,920) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $564,844,377, down 26.35% ($202,095,941) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $153,211,966, down 15.51% ($28,117,979) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade surplus with Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $411,632,411, a 29.71% decrease ($173,977,962) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Egypt was Russia's 29th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 27th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.6597% of Russia's total trade (down from 0.6955% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Egypt was Russia's 25th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 22nd in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.8501% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.8378% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Egypt was Russia's 49th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 41st in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3614% of Russia's total imports (down from 0.4049% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Egypt

The major share of Russian exports to Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 34.07% of Russia's total exports to Egypt (15.65% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 26.58% of Russia's total exports to Egypt (21.04% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 17.53% of Russia's total exports to Egypt (18.42% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 9.86% of Russia's total exports to Egypt (10.58% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.47% of Russia's total exports to Egypt (11.72% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.45% of Russia's total exports to Egypt (2.51% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $81,775,654;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $23,125,530;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $5,887,579;
  • Explosives; pyrotechnic products; matches; pyrophoric alloys; certain combustible preparations (HS code 36) - an increase of $3,304,292;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $2,370,235.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $47,368,671;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $43,777,350;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $35,941,688;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $9,994,720;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $8,524,360;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $5,810,449;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $5,254,873;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $3,799,361;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $3,340,906;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,894,390.

Russia's Imports from Egypt

The major share of Russian imports from Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 87.04% of Russia's total imports from Egypt (92.54% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 9.99% of Russia's total imports from Egypt (3.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.70% of Russia's total imports from Egypt (2.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's imports from Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
