Russia's Trade with France

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with France was $2,586,434,723, down 11.28% ($328,826,346) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to France in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $1,070,215,647, down 30.16% ($462,212,250) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from France in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $1,516,219,076, up 9.65% ($133,385,904) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade with France went from a surplus of $149,594,725 in the 2nd quarter of 2015, to a deficit of $446,003,429 in the 2nd quarter of 2016.

France was Russia's 12th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 14th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 2.3764% of Russia's total trade (up from 2.1383% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

France was Russia's 17th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.6106% of Russia's total exports (down from 1.6739% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

France was Russia's 7th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 9th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 3.5767% of Russia's total imports (up from 3.0875% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to France

The major share of Russian exports to France in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 83.53% of Russia's total exports to France (87.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.40% of Russia's total exports to France (3.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.31% of Russia's total exports to France (2.03% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.76% of Russia's total exports to France (2.74% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.66% of Russia's total exports to France (1.20% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.28% of Russia's total exports to France (0.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to France in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $17,340,467;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $4,165,656;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $3,861,534;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $3,597,447.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to France in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $453,667,729;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $13,913,915;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $4,618,954.
