Russia's Trade with Ghana

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Ghana totaled $99,382,666, up 130.83% ($56,327,330) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Ghana in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $90,309,179, up 232.27% ($63,129,781) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Ghana in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $9,073,487, down 42.85% ($6,802,451) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade surplus with Ghana in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $81,235,692, a 618.68% increase ($69,932,232) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Ghana was Russia's 76th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 99th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0913% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.0316% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Ghana was Russia's 66th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 98th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1359% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.0297% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Ghana was Russia's 92nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 87th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0214% of Russia's total imports (down from 0.0354% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Ghana

The major share of Russian exports to Ghana in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 87.39% of Russia's total exports to Ghana (60.16% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.09% of Russia's total exports to Ghana (19.14% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 5.07% of Russia's total exports to Ghana (12.55% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.16% of Russia's total exports to Ghana (6.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.25% of Russia's total exports to Ghana (1.76% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Ghana in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $62,565,354;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $1,869,151.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Ghana in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $883,092;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $756,733;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $361,500.

Russia's Imports from Ghana

The major share of Russian imports from Ghana in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 96.73% of Russia's total imports from Ghana (98.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.17% of Russia's total imports from Ghana (1.82% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).
