Russia's Trade with Kenya

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Kenya was $65,020,813, down 22.28% ($18,636,510) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $26,251,705, down 41.66% ($18,744,259) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $38,769,108, up 0.28% ($107,749) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade with Kenya went from a surplus of $6,334,605 in the 2nd quarter of 2015, to a deficit of $12,517,403 in the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Kenya was Russia's 86th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 84th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0597% of Russia's total trade (down from 0.0614% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Kenya was Russia's 90th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 85th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0395% of Russia's total exports (down from 0.0492% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Kenya was Russia's 71st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 69th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0915% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.0863% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Kenya

The major share of Russian exports to Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 40.82% of Russia's total exports to Kenya (29.23% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 29.43% of Russia's total exports to Kenya (37.76% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 12.12% of Russia's total exports to Kenya (8.38% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.91% of Russia's total exports to Kenya (23.12% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.10% of Russia's total exports to Kenya (0.68% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $4,035,714;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $1,580,732.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $9,263,472;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $7,859,794;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $6,464,996;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $493,767;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $263,312;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $87,686.

The largest gains in Russia's imports from Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage (HS code 06) - an increase of $3,620,600;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $898,607.

The largest declines in Russia's imports from Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
