Russia's Trade with Norway

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Norway was $258,943,388, down 46.50% ($225,024,954) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Norway in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $209,727,852, down 14.46% ($35,466,848) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Norway in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $49,215,536, down 79.39% ($189,558,106) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade surplus with Norway in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $160,512,316, a 2,399.78% increase ($154,091,258) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Norway was Russia's 55th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 42nd in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2379% of Russia's total trade (down from 0.3550% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Norway was Russia's 47th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 49th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3156% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.2678% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Norway was Russia's 66th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 35th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1161% of Russia's total imports (down from 0.5331% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Norway

The major share of Russian exports to Norway in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 54.81% of Russia's total exports to Norway (63.99% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 25.49% of Russia's total exports to Norway (21.41% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 8.45% of Russia's total exports to Norway (7.41% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.93% of Russia's total exports to Norway (2.96% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.67% of Russia's total exports to Norway (1.09% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.66% of Russia's total exports to Norway (1.51% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $4,229,954;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $3,691,181;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $2,370,082;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $2,222,331;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,466,191;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $1,312,585;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $790,531.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Norway in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $39,805,227;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $7,488,035;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $6,994,877;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $1,615,164;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $667,032.
