Russia's Trade with Zimbabwe

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Zimbabwe totaled $18,249,219, up 91.94% ($8,741,387) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $1,168,925, up 112.71% ($619,383) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $17,080,294, up 90.66% ($8,122,004) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade deficit with Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $15,911,369, a 89.22% increase ($7,502,621) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Zimbabwe was Russia's 112th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 130th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0168% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.0070% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Zimbabwe was Russia's 139th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 159th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0018% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.0006% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Zimbabwe was Russia's 84th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 98th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0403% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.0200% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 97.20% of Russia's total exports to Zimbabwe (0.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.15% of Russia's total exports to Zimbabwe (20.30% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.02% of Russia's total exports to Zimbabwe (79.70% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's exports to Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $1,136,165;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - an increase of $7,358.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $437,802;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $88,990.

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.95% of Russia's total imports from Zimbabwe (99.43% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia's imports from Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $7,469,298;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $449,419;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $237,382.
