Russia’s Trade with Iraq

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Iraq was $51,428,320, down 84.55% ($281,428,502) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $51,428,314, down 84.54% ($281,328,608) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $6, down 99.99% ($99,894) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $51,428,308, a 84.54% decrease ($281,228,714) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Iraq was Russia’s 91st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 52nd in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0473% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2441% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Iraq was Russia’s 77th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 42nd in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0774% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.3635% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Iraq was Russia’s 205th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 148th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0000% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0002% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Iraq

The major share of Russian exports to Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 58.58% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (6.99% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 17.99% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (3.65% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.26% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (0.43% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.70% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (1.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $14,423,217;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $3,560,257;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $3,096,526;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $1,624,487;
  • Headgear and parts thereof (HS code 65) - an increase of $225,532;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $155,189.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $7,041,031;
  • Explosives; pyrotechnic products; matches; pyrophoric alloys; certain combustible preparations (HS code 36) - a decrease of $5,286,464;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $3,607,444;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,427,209;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,637,519;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $448,543;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $346,125;
  • Impregnated, coated, covered or laminated textile fabrics; textile articles of a kind suitable for industrial use (HS code 59) - a decrease of $247,303;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $185,812.
